Can I Fire My Lawyer?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

Absolutely. You can fire your lawyer at any time and for any reason, or for no reason. If you fire a lawyer for no reason, however, you should have a really good reason for firing because the lawyer may sue you to try to collect his fees. In that case, the judge is going to have to decide whether your reason is good or not. If you fire a lawyer without cause, you’re going to have to pay him what you owe him, but on the other hand the relationship is over and there are no further issues.
