What Type of Information Do the Courts Regard as Private?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

The courts regard information that people in a contract agree will be confidential or private, as confidential. In addition, categories of business information like trade secrets, customer lists or proprietary information will be regarded by a court as confidential. Of course, confidential information like attorney-client privileged information meaning communications from a client to his lawyer, or communication from a patient to his doctor, or a penitent to the priest in the confessional, generally will be regarded as confidential by the courts.
