Do I Need a Lawyer to Help My Organization With Parliamentary Procedure?

Return to FAQ Videos

Transcript:

The most important role for a lawyer probably will be in drafting your bylaws if you have a large enough organization that that kind of expense is warranted. Beyond that, at a meeting of your organization, if the meeting may be contentious, or there may be a difficult question and you’re anticipating some discord, it may be a good idea to have an attorney present as your parliamentarian to keep things under control, but a lawyer is not required by parliamentary law or by parliamentary procedure. Any person knowledgeable about those issues can do that job.
