What Is Parliamentary Law?

Parliamentary law is the law governing assemblies or groups of people who are operating as effectively lawmakers. For example, it was invented in the English parliament, but it’s also been taken up by Congress. It governs the proceedings in Congress and state legislatures and elected bodies of all sorts. It also controls proceedings in meetings of civic organizations, for example, medical associations, legal associations, bar associations. Any meetings in which there is a meeting of a group and a business needs to be done will be controlled by parliamentary law.
